UP,Madura Krishna Jayanti stampede: 2 die of suffocation


New Delhi: The Krishna Jayanti celebrations at the Banke Bihari temple in Uttar Pradesh’s Mathura got crowded. In this, two people died due to suffocation and the condition of 6 people is critical.Krishna Jayanti was celebrated across the country yesterday. Devotees also flocked to Mathura, considered to be the birthplace of Lord Krishna.

The Pange Bihar temple of Brindavan here is also very famous. Devotees started gathering inside it from last Friday midnight.Police were also deployed to control the crowd as there is little space inside the temple. In this context, the crowd increased during the special puja that took place at around 2.00 pm yesterday.

There was heavy crowding in front of gate number 4 which is going out. In this, an elderly man and a woman were trapped and suffocated.As a result, they perished miserably before leaving the crowd. The deceased woman has been identified as Nirmala Devi (80) of Noida and the man as Ram Prasad Vishwakarma (65) of Jabalpur, Madhya Pradesh.

In the same temple, 6 people were affected by the congestion and admitted to hospitals in a critical condition. Many victims also returned home after treatment.UP to Mathura for Janmashtami. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath was also present. Shocked to hear this news, he expressed his deepest condolences to the victims.

The District Collector of Mathura and the SSP of Police were also present when the Samabhava was held at the temple in Pange Bihar. It is noteworthy that the temples of Mathura, which have been closed for the past two years due to the spread of Corona, were opened as usual this year.
