Kim Kardashian Will Be Present At The 2023 Met Gala
A new report reveals that Kim Kardashian, despite initial doubts, will be attending the 2023 Met Gala.
In March, there were speculations about the presence of the Kardashian-Jenner clan at the highly regarded fashion event after rumors circulated that they would not be invited despite their striking appearance at the 2022 Met Gala.
It was alleged that Vogue editor-in-chief, Anna Wintour, was imposing stricter restrictions on the guest list. However, sources for Page Six now confirm that Kim Kardashian, the most famous of the reality tv family, will be gracing the Met Gala with her presence.
There are also reports that the reality star won’t be the only Kardashian walking the Met Museum red carpet, but it’s unclear which of the sisters it’ll be.
Kim Kardashian’s Met Gala Journey
In 2013, Kardashian made her highly-anticipated debut at the illustrious Met Gala, accompanied by her ex-husband Kanye West while pregnant with their first child.
Since then, the mom of four has become a bona fide fixture at the event, capturing the spotlight with bold fashion choices. One of her iconic fashion moments was in 2019 when she stunned in a “wet” look created by Thierry Mugler, accentuating her curves with a form-fitting ensemble. She even sought the expertise of renowned corsetier Mr. Pearl, who taught her unique breathing techniques.
In 2021, the fashion icon caused a stir with her avant-garde fashion statement, donning a full, black bodysuit by Balenciaga that covered her face. The ensemble made waves on social media and became material for hilarious and viral memes.
She Received Backlash For Wearing The Historic Marilyn Monroe
Last year, Kim’s decision to wear a Jean Louis gown that Marilyn Monroe had famously worn in 1962 when she sang “Happy Birthday, Mr. President” to John F. Kennedy was met with outrage and accusations of damaging the seams of the iconic dress.
The historic garment was on loan from Ripley’s Believe It or Not. Many people expressed concern about its preservation, including renowned fashion designer Bob Mackie, who worked for Jean Louis and sketched the gown.
However, Ripley’s Believe It or Not, in a statement to the public, reassured that they had taken precautions to protect the dress, saying, “Any time we felt that the dress was in danger of ripping or we felt uncomfortable about anything, we always could be able to say we were not going to continue with this.”
Kim Kardashian Admits To Going On A ‘Strict Diet’ To Fit Into The Marilyn Monroe Dress
Besides being blamed for damaging the seams of the historical dress, Kardashian also faced backlash after openly admitting on the red carpet that she had lost 16 pounds in three weeks by following a “strict diet” to fit into the Marilyn Monroe dress.
However, her trainer, Don-A-Matrix, who also has worked with her sister, Khloé Kardashian, over the years, was quick to come to the SKIMS founder’s defense, maintaining that she lost 16 pounds in three weeks the “healthy way” and sometimes worked out “twice a day.”
In an interview with TMZ, Don-A-Matrix stated, “I think one of the misconceptions is — she works hard. I was there through the process, and it wasn’t like a starving yourself type of thing.”
“She’s been on a real balanced diet, and at times she wouldn’t eat as much, but then the second thing was she went to the gym and put the work in,” he added.
Kim also donned Monroe’s famous green gown, which she wore to the 1962 Golden Globe Awards, and was gifted a lock of the late actress’s hair by Ripley’s.
