Swifties have cleared out Taylor Swift‘s butterfly-cut-out high-waisted jeans from retailers after she was seen donning the outfit during a night out with her pals. It comes in the wake of her breakup with Joe Alwyn, whom she dated privately for six years.
Since the breakup, fans have speculated that the singer’s song “Champagne Problems,” which she penned with the British actor, talked about their relationship.

Fans have shown that their love for Swift extends beyond her music, as seen by many of them rushing to buy the pants she wore on her first public outing since the news of her breakup with her boyfriend of six years, Alwyn.
The outfit was a pair of high-waisted jeans from a brand called Area Out, which had a bejeweled butterfly cut-out on the leg. She rocked the pants with a simple tight black top and a gold bedazzled bag that matched the design of her jeans.
The singer enjoyed the night out with pal Jack Antonoff and his fiancée, actress Margaret Qualley, and looked to be in high spirits.
Within hours of Swift being seen donning the pants, fans of the singer visited multiple retailers to get theirs. It has now been reported, per TMZ, that the outfit, which cost a whopping $673, has been completely sold out.
Did Taylor Swift Hint At Her Love Life?
Apart from rushing to get a pair of Swift’s bejeweled jeans for themselves, fans have claimed that the butterfly on the outfit was a clue from the singer and symbolized that she is going through a rebirth.
The speculations do not come as a surprise, as Swift has a penchant for dropping “Easter Eggs” for her fans via her music and fashion.
Most recently, many claimed that the singer’s song “Champagne Problems” talked about her relationship with Alwyn and seemingly implied that she was at fault for their breakup due to her alleged refusal to marry the British actor.
Her last-minute alteration to include “The 1” instead of “Invisible String” during a last-minute switch on her highly-anticipated Eras Tour only fueled the speculation, although she is yet to make any comments about the breakup. Alwyn, who is known to have a preference for going under the radar, has also not commented on the split.
‘They Weren’t The Right Fit For One Another’
According to People Magazine, a source close to Swift and Alwyn claimed they had “rough patches before and always worked things out” but ultimately decided not to take their relationship further as they “weren’t the right fit for one another.”
The source also stated that the “differences in their personalities” were the main reason behind their split after dating for six years.
Other issues that reportedly led to the breakup include an alleged discomfort Alwyn felt over the limelight their relationship faced due to Swift’s fame.
“Joe has struggled with Taylor’s level of fame and the attention from the public,” said an insider about the duo, who were first linked in May 2017.
Despite ending their love story, it is claimed that the duo is still “friendly” and that Swift doesn’t have anything bad to say about Joe.
Taylor Swift Is Focused On Her Tour
In the meantime, Swift is “staying very focused on her tour right now.” She is presently on the road in North America for her iconic “The Eras Tour,” and she recently performed three times in Arlington, Texas, earlier this month.
She was also seen filming a music video in Liverpool, England, late last week and will be performing in Tampa, Florida, on April 13, 14, and 15.
Meanwhile, Alwyn, who enjoys remaining anonymous, will next appear on the big screen in Yorgos Lanthimos’ upcoming film, “And,” which is now in development.
The British actor will appear in the film with Emma Stone, Jesse Plemons, Willem Dafoe, Margaret Qualley, and Hong Chau.
