Heavy rain is likely at a few places in Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Karaikal from May 1 to 3, according to the Chennai Meteorological Department.In this regard, Director of Chennai Meteorological Research Center P.Senthamakrishnan has said in a press release that: There is an area where east wind and west wind meet in the lower layers of the upper monsoon zone of South India. Due to this, light to moderate rain with thundershowers and gusty winds (30 kmph to 40 kmph) may occur at many places over Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Karaikal.
Nilgiris, Coimbatore, Erode, Tirupur, Dindigul, Theni, Tenkasi, Tirunelveli and Kanyakumari districts are likely to receive heavy rain at a few places.
May 1: Light to moderate rain with thundershowers and gusty winds (30 kmph to 40 kmph) at most places over Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Karaikal. Ranipet, Vellore, Tirupattur and Tiruvannamalai districts may witness heavy to very heavy rains. Salem, Dharmapuri, Nilgiris, Erode, Coimbatore, Theni, Dindigul, Tenkasi, Tirupur, Namakkal, Karur, Kallakurichi, Thiruvallur, Kanchipuram, Villupuram, Perambalur and Trichy districts are likely to receive heavy rain at one or two places.
May 2: Light to moderate rain with thunder and lightning may occur at most places over Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Karaikal. Erode, Nilgiris, Coimbatore, Tirupur, Dindigul and Theni districts are likely to receive heavy rain at one or two places.
May 3: Light to moderate rain with thunder and lightning may occur at most places over Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Karaikal.
