Heavy rain will occur in 9 districts of Tamil Nadu today (May 9), according to the Chennai Meteorological Department.
In a press release issued by the Chennai Meteorological Department, “There is an area where the east wind and west wind meet in the lower layers of the upper atmosphere of South India.
The low pressure area that prevailed over the South East Bay of Bengal and the South Andaman Sea area that drove it yesterday strengthened into a deep low pressure area at 5.30 am today and remained at the same place.
It will strengthen as a low pressure area this evening and may strengthen as a storm tomorrow over the Southeast and its accompanying Mid-East Bay of Bengal and Andaman Sea.It may move in north-northwest direction till 11.05.2023. After that it may turn north-northeast direction and move towards Bangladesh-Myanmar coast.
Due to this, light rain with thunder and lightning may occur at one or two places in Tamilnadu, Puduwai, Karaikal today. Nilgiris, Tirupur, Coimbatore, Erode, Theni, Dindigul, Tenkasi and Kanyakumari districts will receive heavy rain at one or two places.As for Chennai, the sky will remain cloudy for the next 24 hours.
Light rain will occur at some places in the city. Fishermen have been asked not to venture into the sea as cyclonic winds are expected in Andaman Sea, South East Bay of Bengal and Middle East Bay today.
