Dave Cassidy, who has led union staff starting from Stellantis’s Windsor Meeting plant to Caesars Windsor, is retiring after six years as president of Unifor Native 444.
Cassidy, who was acknowledged earlier this month with a distinguished alumni award from St. Clair School, introduced his retirement Sunday on a Fb publish.

Cassidy, who has been a tenacious voice of labour in Windsor throughout his time as president, has been a member of Unifor’s nationwide govt board since Unifor was based in 2013.

His Unifor biography says Cassidy began his apprenticeship as an electrician after highschool. He started working at Chrysler Canada in 1993. His elected positions embody store flooring steward, expert trades chairperson on the Chrysler Windsor Meeting Plant, and president of the Windsor/Essex County Expert Trades Council.
In 2021, he launched a bid to develop into the nationwide president of Unifor, finally shedding to present president Lana Payne.
