SEOUL (Reuters) – North Korean chief Kim Jong Un on Thursday inspected the test-firing of 240 mm a number of launch rockets manufactured by a newly established defence trade unit, the North’s KCNA information company reported on Friday.
The report didn’t give additional particulars of the unit that produced the artillery. North Korea is believed to be ramping up manufacturing of artillery amid allegations by the US and South Korea that it’s supplying Russia with weapons.
Each nations deny the allegation. The check firing confirmed the rockets met the required requirements for flight traits and accuracy, KCNA stated.
Kim stated the 240 mm a number of launch rocket system, which contains new expertise, will “carry a few strategic change in strengthening our navy’s artillery capabilities,” in keeping with KCNA.
In a separate report, KCNA stated Kim visited the Kim Il Sung Army College, named after his grandfather and state founder, to mark the anniversary of the founding of the revolutionary military, the precursor to the nation’s navy.
