The Smokehouse Creek Fireplace, which was sparked on Monday, has already burned throughout greater than 500,000 acres, pushed by excessive winds and dry situations. It’s the largest of a number of brush fires now burning throughout the Texas Panhandle and elements of northwestern Oklahoma, prompting evacuations and catastrophe declarations, as authorities warn that the climate will stay dangerously dry for at the least one other week.
