The Harvard Crimson reported:
Professional-Palestine scholar protesters on the Harvard Yard encampment flew three Palestinian flags from College Corridor on Saturday night.
A gaggle of three protesters hoisted the flags over the John Harvard statue within the Yard, the place the College typically flies the American flag or flags of the nations of visiting overseas dignitaries. As of 6:34 p.m., Harvard College Law enforcement officials had been calling Harvard Yard Operations to take away the flag.
Because the workers eliminated the flags, protesters yelled “Disgrace!” and chanted “Free, free Palestine” and “From the river to the ocean, Palestine shall be free.”
“From the river to the ocean” is taken into account by many critics to be an antisemitic chant, because it implies the destruction of Israel and the elimination or homicide of its Jewish inhabitants.
Sarcastically, it was a pro-Israel, Jewish professor, Alan Dershowitz, who as soon as advocated for Palestinian college students to have the proper to fly the Palestinian flag on campus — with permission — although Palestine isn’t a state.
As Dershowitz recalled in 2007:
I, and plenty of different real civil libertarians, have lengthy histories of defending the free speech rights of these we most despise. I supported the proper of Nazis to march in Skokie, In poor health forty years in the past. I opposed the cancellation of a speech by Tom Paulin, who advocated the homicide of Israelis. I defended, professional bono, a virulently anti-Israel Stanford professor who was fired for inciting violence. I opposed Harvard’s try to stop college students from flying the Palestinian flag to commemorate the dying of mass-murderer Yasser Arafat.
Don’t anticipate the protection of these with whom they disagree from the Israel-bashers at Columbia, Harvard, and MIT. For them, it’s “free speech for me, however not for thee!”
Many professional-Palestinian “encampments” — at Harvard, Yale, Columbia, UCLA, and elsewhere — have used starkly anti-American imagery, together with the elimination of the American flag and the condemnation of the USA.
