Elvis Presley’s granddaughter is shaking up plans to sell the late singer’s stately home by a company that claims it owns the property.
Danielle Riley Keough, the current owner following the 2023 death of her mother Lisa Marie Presley, is suing to stop a multimillion-dollar foreclosure sale of Graceland, originally scheduled this week, alleging fraud, claiming the purported company behind the sale doesn’t exist and has no rights to the property, according to CNN.
A court granted Ms. Keough a restraining order against any sale so that it can consider an application for an injunction against a sale by Naussany Investments & Private Lending LLC, according to court documents obtained by CNN.
Ms. Keough’s lawsuit claims that the company presented “fraudulent” documents “purporting to show that Lisa Marie Presley had borrowed $3.8 million from Naussany Investments and gave a deed of trust encumbering Graceland as security.” The court document identified a notary in Florida who said she “never met Lisa Marie Presley nor notarized any document for her,” despite her name being on loan paperwork, according to CNN.
CNN emailed Naussany Investments and received an automated reply, “We are currently out of the office; we will resume normal business hours on Tuesday May 28, 2024.”
