Re: Bell: Calgary Citywide Rezoning Fight Not Over – Unless Calgarians Fall Asleep…

October 20th 2025 is inching that much closer as each day passes. It would be commonly referred to as Calgary’s next civic elections, 2025 edition. But, I would like to refer to it as D-Day or simply as ‘Disposal’ Day.

Where were you during COVID?
I find it interesting that CUPE 38 president D’Arcy Lanovaz calls the strike vote a show of unity. During the pandemic scare, where was his unity towards the union workers who lost their jobs because they refused to get the vaccine mandated by the city, even though there was no emergency. He did nothing to try and prevent those union brothers and sisters from being dismissed. He is the last one to talk about solidarity.

(Pretty sure frontline workers were well united in their mission to keep as many people healthy as possible.)
Way to go, Calgary
Congratulations to the city of Calgary, and the Calgary City Police for clearing out the Palestinian protester encampments.
Bravo! I wish my city had the gonads to do the same, as they are in the process of setting up camp at our universities.
Kudos to you!

(Glad to hear people support the decision.)
Time to vacate
How pathetic! As a retired employee of a company that caters to the whim of every bleeding heart with a hurt feeling, I am amazed and disgusted. I recently read that about how all the legal minds are saying how the university could be in possible violation of the charter of rights. To this I say shut the hell up. Universities, businesses, home owners all are private property. The rights of a property owner should trump any protest or freedom of speech. What is the difference if they protest on my front lawn? Call the police and have them removed, hopefully arrested.
I commend Calgary and Edmonton police for doing their job and all who protested on university grounds should be expelled and hopefully get some life education.

(They were just enforcing the rules and regulations that apply to everyone.)
