1 — Plant a tree with your community

SOS Trees Coalition hosts Community Tree Planting Day ahead of Arbor Week. Help plant a naturalized tree and shrub forest in an unused public space with students from St. Frances Cree Bilingual School and SOS Trees members. Some supplies are available, and shovels, gloves, pails for watering and wheelbarrows are welcome. The event runs 10 a.m. to noon on Friday at 2506 McPherson Ave. Arbor Week runs Sunday to June 1, with activities around town. Learn more at sostrees.ca/arborweek.html.

2 — Learn to make a wrist lanyard
Wanuskewin Heritage Park hosts a beading workshop with artist Honey Constant-Inglis. Learn to bead your own wrist lanyard with a starter beading kit. All skill levels are welcome; youth must be accompanied by an adult. The workshop is Saturday from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Materials, park admission and parking are included, refreshments are provided and lunch is available on-site. Learn more at wanuskewin.com.
3 — Attend an art exhibition reception
Ukrainian Museum of Canada presents Divine Visions: The Art of Vasyl Stratiychuk, Showcasing a collection of preparatory drawings, painted and wooden icons and carvings, the exhibition celebrates the life’s work and journey of the prolific Ukrainian-Canadian artist. An opening reception for the show is Saturday at 3 p.m. in the museum. The exhibition runs until Aug. 24. Learn more at umcnational.ca.
4 — Celebrate 20 years with a local fiddle orchestra
The Saskatoon Fiddle Orchestra celebrates its 20th anniversary with SFO on the Red Carpet. The show features music from movie soundtracks, including Titanic and The Godfather, as well as traditional fiddle tunes. Guest artists Lucas Welsh, JJ Guy, Terry Heckman and local dancers join the SFO in their celebration.
