Re: Ottawans ‘waste disposal habits’ must adjust as city adopts three-item limit, online, May 21
Article content
I understand why the three-bag rule is necessary, but I do not understand city council’s thinking over the years. Decades ago, when we bought our home, the hot topic was landfill. And all this time later still nothing has been done.
They can find the money and commit to debt for an LRT to nowhere. But not for collection of garbage and treatment of our garbage as a core requirement. Just doesn’t have enough glitter.

CHANCE OF PAROLE AFTER 10 YEARS?
Re: ‘VIOLENT, UNPROVOKED’: Devon Wynne sentenced to life, no parole for 10 years for murder of Jayko Partridge, online, May 18
Wow, Superior Court Justice Adriana Doyle sentenced Devon Wynne to life in prison, with no chance of parole for 10 years, for the “violent and unprovoked” murder of Jayko Partridge. That’ll teach him.
Article content
If the murder hadn’t been violent and unprovoked, one wonders if Wynne would have been treated to a home-cooked meal by Doyle before being set free.
Criminals call the Canadian justice system a joke because it is.

SWEET PUBLIC SERVICE GIG
Re: More than 70,000 letters sent to minister, MPs about public service return-to-office policy, online, May 17
What a sweet gig for our public servants, being allowed to work from home, even if it isn’t for a full work week.
To taxpayers, and a few writers whose opinions have appeared in the Sun, if you really want our public service employees to stay at home, being paid more generously than most taxpayers, go for it. You won’t get a full day’s work from most employees because when you stay at home your work becomes secondary to family problems.
