Los Angeles, CA — Johnny Wactor, known for his role as Brando Corbin on “General Hospital,” was tragically shot dead early Saturday morning in downtown Los Angeles. The 37-year-old actor and a colleague were at West Pico Boulevard and South Hope Street around 3:30 a.m. when they encountered three masked thieves attempting to steal a catalytic converter from Wactor’s car.
According to police and Wactor’s mother, Scarlett, the actor approached the thieves and was shot despite not putting up a fight. The suspects then fled the scene in a vehicle, TMZ reported.
Wactor was transported to a local hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries. Scarlett Wactor provided additional details to NBC, explaining that her son had been bartending at a nearby rooftop venue. After assisting with a “deep clean” following the last call, he walked to his car with three co-workers. Two of them went in a different direction to get to their vehicles, leaving Wactor and one colleague to continue to his car.
When they arrived, they found his car jacked up. Wactor initially thought it was being towed, as he had parked on the street in an unfamiliar area, anticipating a late work shift. Scarlett Wactor said her son tried to speak with one of the masked men, who then shot him before escaping in a waiting vehicle.
The team at “General Hospital” expressed their sorrow in a statement on social media platform X, saying, “We are heartbroken to hear of Johnny Wactor’s untimely passing. He was truly one of a kind. He was a pleasure to work with each and every day. Our thoughts and prayers go out to his loved ones during this difficult time.”
In addition to his role on “General Hospital,” Wactor appeared in various films and TV series, including “NCIS,” “Station 19,” “Westworld,” and “Call of Duty: Vanguard.”
