WWE viewers were left gobsmacked during NXT this week after two huge stars made very unexpected appearances.
On Tuesday night’s show, fans saw current TNA Wrestling Knockouts World Champion Jordynne Grace – who previously shocked fans at the Royal Rumble in January – and former AEW wrestler Ethan Page both make an impact.
The two stars are set to play a big role on NXT television over the coming weeks, and it’s said the situation with Jordynne is part of a wider plan to form a partnership of sorts with TNA.
Historically, WWE has never played well with others, and deals with other promotions have been incredible rare, with the Knockout Champ’s Rumble appearance being an anomaly at the time.
During Tuesday’s episode of NXT, Jordynne was revealed as Roxanne Perez’s challenger for the NXT Women’s Title at NXT Battleground on June 8, despite currently working for TNA.
She will also face Stevie Turner in something of a warmup match on next week’s NXT to prove she has ‘earned’ the title match.
As reported by PWInsider, her bouts are not expected to be ‘the only WWE-TNA collaboration in the days ahead’, with sources anticipating ‘some sort of NXT representation on future TNA events and programming as well’.
TNA’s next round of tapings and events are the Against All Odds show in Chicago on June 14, and TV tapings the following day.
The hugely influential wrestling promotion has helped launch the careers of the likes of AJ Styles, Samoa Joe and many more.
Meanwhile, Ethan Page made an equally shocking appearance at the end of NXT this week as he took out NXT Champion Trick Williams in the closing moments of the broadcast.
He only left AEW earlier this month, and secretly put pen to paper on a deal with WWE after visiting the Performance Center last week.
Both Ethan and Jordynne getting involved have left WWE fans in awe, and excited for a future led by Paul ‘Triple H’ Levesque (and Shawn Michaels in NXT), as both men appear more open to working with others.
‘The possibility of this stemming to a WWE x TNA forbidden door type deal is getting stronger and I swear to god himself that it will be the best event in wrestling history. #wwe #tna,’ predicted @datboionpluto on X.
‘WAIT ISNT SHE A TNA WRESTLER! WWE AND TNA COLLABORATING OMG,’ shouted @Aangsbackscar, while @WrestlingHumble tweeted: ‘A TNA Champion challenging a WWE Champion on an NXT show at a UFC arena is NUTS. What is this timeline.’
‘First Jordynne Grace went through the Forbidden Door from TNA and now Ethan Page has signed with WWE! What the hell just happened?! #WWENXT,’ questioned @MaracleMan, as @CrispyWrestlin kept caps lock on to say: ‘ETHAN PAGE IS IN WWE AND JUST ATTACKED TRICK WILLAMS ! YOOO LOWKEY THE LAST THING I EXPECTED #WWENXT’
And @creativekntrl added: ‘#AllEgo Ethan Page! Attacks Trick Williams. I’m stunned! Absolutely stunned. And we almost got a mention of #AEW on #WWENXT Wow. #WWE disrupting the landscape tonight.’
