Fans can now vote to send their favorite FC Cincinnati players to the 2024 MLS All-Star Game, presented by Target, on Wednesday, July 24 at Lower.com Field in Columbus. The event will feature the MLS All-Stars facing off against the best of Liga MX.
A total of 26 MLS players will be selected for the All-Star Game, with the selection process divided as follows:
- 12 players will be determined by a combined vote of MLS players, fans, and media. Each of these three groups will contribute one-third to the overall vote.
- 12 players will be chosen by MLS All-Star head coach Wilfried Nancy of the Columbus Crew.
- Two players will be selected by MLS Commissioner Don Garber.
Voting groups will select 11 players in a 4-1-2-3 formation: one goalkeeper, one right back, two center backs, one left back, one defensive midfielder, two attacking midfielders, and three forwards/wingers. The top vote-getters in each position will be named All-Stars, with the 12th player being the one with the next-highest overall votes.
To qualify for the ballot, players must have appeared in at least 50 percent of their club’s matches this season by May 13, when the ballot was created. Players not on the ballot can still be selected by either the All-Star head coach or Commissioner Garber. Fans can also nominate one of their 11 chosen players to be the team captain. The four players with the most captain nominations will be put on a separate ballot for the MLS All-Star Captain Fan Vote, which opens on July 1.
Fan voting opens today, Wednesday, May 29, at 12 p.m. ET and will close at 11:59 p.m. PT on Monday, June 10. Fans can cast their votes on mlssoccer.com/all-star/2024/vote/fan-vote or via the MLS App. Additionally, fans have the unique opportunity to share their picks on social media.
Last year, FC Cincinnati sent three players to the All-Star Game: Luciano Acosta, Matt Miazga, and Álvaro Barreal, with Acosta serving as team captain. Below is the all-time list of FC Cincinnati MLS All-Stars:
