They’ll face the Florida Panthers, who disposed of the New York Rangers in six games in the Eastern Conference Final. The Panthers are back in the Cup final for the second straight season after losing to the Vegas Golden Knights last year. Florida is looking to win their first Stanley Cup title in team history.
No Canadian team has been able to win the NHL’s biggest prize since the 1993 season when the Montreal Canadiens defeated the Los Angeles Kings in five games.
On the latest edition of Off The Post, Toronto SUN Sports Columnist Steve Simmons, Postmedia Hockey Columnist Bruce Garrioch, Vancouver Sun and The Province Canucks Reporter Patrick Johnston and Postmedia’s Rob Wong break down the Stanley Cup Final.
They discuss the Oilers impressive power play which has led the league in success rate during the Stanley Cup Playoffs, why it may finally be Connor McDavid’s time, how the Panthers should use their physicality to slow down Edmonton’s stars and if Florida’s Matthew Tkachuk and Sam Bennett will be a thorn in the side of the Oilers during the series.
Finally, they give their predictions for the series and who they think will win between the Oilers and Panthers.
