Rep. Andy Kim is projected to win the Democratic primary for Senate in New Jersey, according to the Associated Press. The seat is held by embattled Sen. Bob Menendez (D-N.J.), who on Monday filed to run for reelection as an independent amid his trial on federal corruption charges. Menendez’s son, Rep. Rob Menendez (D-N.J.), was also projected to survive a primary challenge in a race that was largely overshadowed by his father’s legal issues. Former president Donald Trump faced Republican primary voters for the first time as a felon Tuesday as voters went to the polls in Montana, New Jersey, New Mexico and South Dakota. Voters in Iowa and D.C. also selected nominees in down-ballot races. Trump was convicted last week by a New York jury on 34 counts of falsifying business records to conceal a hush money payment to an adult-film actress.
