Europe’s inland waterways are expected to face chaos following extreme flooding in southern Germany, which has already disrupted the rail freight sector with failure rates up to 70%, The Loadstar reported. Blockages are in force at a number of places on the Rhine river, mainly around Mannheim and Frankfurt. Stoppages are expected in the coming days due to the high-water levels at the Kaub gauge.
