MOBILE, Ala. (WALA) – FOX10 has a local health alert for those with United Healthcare insurance.
The contract between Infirmary Health and United Healthcare expired and Infirmary Health hospitals won’t take that insurance.
If you have United Healthcare insurance and see physicians at Infirmary Health, you may be panicking about where to go for care.
Here’s some important information:
If you have Medicare Advantage through United Healthcare, you will not be affected.
Those who are pregnant or in the middle of cancer treatment will likely qualify for continuity of care.
You can still see your doctor at any Infirmary Medical clinic.
However, if you have United Healthcare insurance and need to go to the hospital, Infirmary Health hospitals will not accept your insurance.
USA Providence Hospital, South Baldwin Regional Medical Center, Springhill Medical Center and University Hospital will all take United Healthcare insurance.
A statement sent to us by the insurance company reads in part:
“We remain fully committed to restoring network access to Infirmary Health’s hospitals for people enrolled in our employer-sponsored commercial plans and our individual family plan. We’re negotiating in good faith and have proposed rate increases that ensure Infirmary Health continues to be reimbursed fairly.”
