Patna, June 7—A massive hoarding celebrating Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar with the slogan “Tiger Zinda Hai” has appeared in Patna, as the Janata Dal United (JD-U) leader supports Narendra Modi to lead the next National Democratic Alliance (NDA) government. The JD-U, an NDA alliance partner, won 12 seats in the recently concluded 2024 Lok Sabha elections, announced on June 4. Bihar, which sends 40 members to the Lok Sabha, saw the BJP winning 12 seats and the Chirag Paswan-led LJP securing 5 seats. The NDA collectively bagged 30 out of 40 seats in Bihar, while the opposition INDIA bloc claimed 9 seats.
The slogan “Tiger Zinda Hai” refers to the popular 2017 Salman Khan film, a sequel to the blockbuster “Ek Tha Tiger.” The hoarding, featuring an image of Kumar alongside two tigers, was erected near Tara Mandal in Patna. A photo of Sonu Singh, likely a JD-U worker, is also included on the hoarding.
Earlier, senior BJP leaders, newly-elected MPs, and allies, including TDP chief N Chandrababu Naidu and Nitish Kumar, endorsed Narendra Modi to head the next NDA Union government. Modi was chosen as the NDA’s Parliamentary leader during a meeting in Parliament’s central hall. He is set to take the oath as Prime Minister on Sunday. Along with Naidu and Kumar, Modi is expected to meet President Droupadi Murmu later today to officially stake the claim for forming the government.
The NDA concluded the 2024 Lok Sabha elections with 293 seats. The BJP won 240 out of 543 seats, while the Congress secured 99 seats. Although the BJP fell short of the 272-majority mark, it will depend on its NDA allies to form the government.
