The Black Keys recently cancelled their North American tour behind latest LP Ohio Players, promising to announce revised dates for a “similarly exciting, intimate experience,” which we can only assume means smaller venues. Now, the New York Times reports that the duo of Patrick Carney and Dan Auerbach have severed ties with their co-managers, Irving Azoff and Steve Moir, following the debacle.
In a new piece about high-profile tour cancellations that uses the band and Jennifer Lopez pulling the plug on their arena dates as a jumping off point for examining the state of the live music industry, it was revealed that the Black Keys are now in need of new management. Azoff and Moir had been their co-managers since 2021, and a representative for the former told Billboard that it was an “amicable parting.”
The band themselves have yet to respond to any requests for comment, and Exclaim! would probably be an unlikely suspect to get a statement after the Black Keys called out our 4/10 review of their album in a radio interview back in April.
