Bangalore police detained renowned Kannada actor Darshan Thoogudeepa from Mysuru on June 11, in connection with the murder of Renukaswamy, according to HT Kannada. The actor was arrested due to his alleged involvement in the case and is currently being transported to Bangalore for further investigation.
The case centers around Renukaswamy, who was found dead near Sumannahalli Bridge in Bengaluru. The victim had allegedly made derogatory social media posts about Pavitra Gowda, a close friend of Darshan. Police investigations suggest that Renukaswamy was lured to a Mysuru farmhouse owned by Darshan, where he was tortured and murdered. His body was discovered on June 9 in Bengaluru’s Kamakshipalya region.
So far, ten individuals have been arrested in connection with the case. Initial arrests revealed that the murder was motivated by financial disputes. As the investigation unfolds, Bangalore police are expected to provide more details in a forthcoming press conference.
Darshan Thoogudeepa, a prominent figure in the Kannada film industry, is known for his roles in films such as “Anatharu” and “Krantiveera Sangolly Rayanna.” He is also a producer and distributor, having established Thoogudeepa Productions in 2006. The production house’s first film was “Jothe Jotheyalu,” in which Darshan made a special appearance. He has received several accolades, including the Karnataka State Film Award for Best Actor for his role in “Krantiveera Sangolly Rayanna.”
Following Darshan’s arrest, police have increased security near his Bangalore residence. The unfolding case continues to attract significant attention, given Darshan’s celebrity status and the shocking nature of the allegations.
