Sienna Miller got candid about her initial impression of her younger boyfriend Oli Green as the pair settle into being new parents.
The 42-year-old actress – who also shares an 11-year-old daughter Marlowe with actor Tom Sturridge – met her 27-year-old boyfriend Oli at a Halloween party where they quickly hit it off.
In an interview with Harper’s Bazaar on Tuesday, the Anatomy of a Scandal star reflected on the ‘catharsis’ of growing her family and her annoyance with falling for a younger guy.
She said: ‘I didn’t expect to take it seriously and then quite quickly, I fell in love.
‘I wasn’t like, “I’m gonna get a younger boyfriend.” It was more, “F**k! Why are you young? That’s so annoying.”‘
Despite her concerns over the age gap, she ultimately found it worked in her favour.
‘There is a difference in the way that generation of men respect women. It’s specific to him, he is very wise and well-adjusted, but I do believe it’s also that generation.
‘They have grown up with a slightly more level playing field. I see it in his female friends as well as in the men.’
The couple welcomed their baby girl in January and the former model had only words of praise for her family.
‘I’m in heaven. It’s been a cathartic, healing experience, which sounds woo-woo, but it’s grounded in a way that reflects the life that I want to be living,’ she reflected.
In fact, the screen star feels ‘much more balanced and settled and wise’ than before.
‘I think I’ve got some wisdom from all of the things I’ve been through. The more interesting and complicated your life is, the better you’ll end up being.’
Oli, who was first linked with Sienna back in February 2022, is also an actor who has starred in Zach Braff’s A Good Person and featured in Netflix’s The Crown.
Sienna first opened up about their age gap last year when her pregnancy became public knowledge before she had a chance to announce it.
When asked by Vogue, she said: ‘I don’t think you can legislate on matters of the heart. I certainly have never been able to.’
She added: ‘For Oli, it is real that I might want to be with someone older. Female friends of mine in their 40s, they’re meeting younger people who are seeing women as three-dimensional figures.
‘I do want to credit that to some level of the feminist movement working.’
Now Sienna is looking toward the release of Kevin Costner’s four-part Western, Horizon: An American Saga, coming out at the end of this month in which she plays Frances.
The first part premiered at Cannes Film Festival in May and received a seven-minute standing ovation.
