Transport Minister Ramalinga Reddy disbursed compensation of Rs 1 crore each to the families of four employees who lost their lives in a work-related accident, Rs 10 lakh each to the dependents of 23 employees who passed away due to various illnesses, and Rs 10 lakh each to the families of four passengers who died in an accident while traveling on KSRTC buses. During his address, Reddy said, “I encourage families to utilise the funds for their children’s education and housing needs.” Reddy commended the corporation’s workers, officers, and labour leaders for their contributions to the successful implementation of the Shakti scheme and suggested exploring the possibility of increasing scholarships under the Vidya Chetana scheme. He also mentioned the introduction of the Saarige Suraksha, a Rs. 1 crore Accident Compensation Insurance Scheme by KSRTC, aimed at providing financial support to dependents affected by accidents both on and off duty. As of now, 13 families have received Rs 1 crore accident insurance, with four additional families receiving the compensation on Wednesday.
