The Independence Day weekend is highly coveted in film calendars, as it attracts large audiences to theaters. This year, the stakes were particularly high, with Rohit Shetty and Ajay Devgn’s ‘Singham Again‘, the third installment of the Singham franchise, set to compete against Allu Arjun and Sukumar’s ‘Pushpa 2: The Rule.’ However, it has now been announced that both films will not be releasing on that day.
At a recent media event, Ajay Devgn disclosed the reason behind the delay in releasing ‘Singham Again’. He said, “We are not sure that the film will be ready by 15th August. So, we don’t want to hurry. Bahut baar jaldi jaldi me kaam kharab ho jata hai, so we will take our time and complete the film”.
‘Singham Again’ was the first to reschedule, primarily due to the extensive cast featuring Ajay Devgn, Akshay Kumar, Ranveer Singh, Deepika Padukone, Kareena Kapoor Khan, and Arjun Kapoor, which required more time than anticipated. The film is now reportedly aiming for a Diwali release. Just recently, Nikkhil Advani and John Abraham also decided to shift their release date from 12th July to avoid a clash, which initially set up a potential face-off between John Abraham and Allu Arjun on 15th August.
However, on Wednesday, news started circulating that ‘Pushpa 2 – The Rule’ would also be postponing its Independence Day release date due to incomplete shooting. Reports suggested that shooting delays occurred due to Allu Arjun’s health issues, resulting in nearly a month of lost filming time. Despite these setbacks, the makers initially remained confident about meeting their deadline and even promoted the film with a first look and a song release. Recently, it has been reported that the makers have informed their Hindi distributors about their decision to move the release date.
