Patrick Cantlay and Rory McIlroy set the pace in the opening round at the US Open – becoming the clubhouse leaders in tough conditions at Pinehurst.
Northern Irishman scored a superb bogey-free 65 – with his bid to win his first major since 2014 off to an excellent start.
