A passenger recently travelling from Saskatoon to Vancouver had his flight cancelled and was in for a surprise when a replacement plane arrived for him to continue with his journey.
The two-hour long flight was reportedly scheduled to take off on June 7, but “there was some issue with the plane originally scheduled for the flight, and I assume this was a replacement plane brought in last minute,” the passenger, wishing to remain anonymous, told Newsweek magazine on Friday.

The passenger first wrote about the incident on Reddit earlier this week where he expressed his shock on discovering how comfortable the replacement plane was. “Every seat is business class, electric recliner with foldout leg rest. Tons of leg room,” he posted on Reddit, saying other passengers were equally surprised.
He also shared images of what the plane looked like. “I was in the emergency exit row, I could stretch out my legs with my ass (a–) hanging off the seat, I didn’t even come close to touching the seat in front of me. Stewardess says it’s used for sports team charter flights, must have been all that was available on short notice.”
National Post has reached out to Air Canada for comment. To Newsweek, the Canadian airline released a statement saying, “What the image shows is one of Air Canada’s Jetz aircraft, which are generally used for charter flights — notably for NHL and other sports teams.”
The airline confirmed to Newsweek that the aircraft was recently used between the two cities. “These aircraft are sometimes used on regular routes based on operational needs,” Air Canada told Newsweek.
