Strictly Come Dancing star Rhys Stephenson has just said “I do” to his long-time love, Beth Johnson. The 30-year-old Saturday Mash-Up presenter, who dazzled BBC viewers on the dance floor back in 2021, celebrated his marriage to Beth over the weekend and took to social media to share some heartwarming snapshots from their special day.
Rhys revealed that he and his bride had a unique “pre-wedding handshake” posting an Instagram video of the pair perfecting their routine with the caption: “When your friend @rachsilvester secretly catches you doing your pre-wedding handshake with your new wife [chuckle emoji].” (sic)
The newly minted Mr. and Mrs. Stephenson also uploaded charming selfies from their wedding day, showcasing their joy and stylish wedding attire in front of 32,400 followers. Their heartfelt message read: “Yesterday I married my best friend.
“Thank you all, for the most beautiful messages and all the love. We couldn’t have asked for a wedding more magical and special, love the Stephensons.”
The couple’s fans were quick to shower them with congratulations in the comments section. One fan exclaimed: “This is wonderful.”
Another chimed in with: “Aww huge congratulations to you both.”
A third fan shared: “This has put such a smile on my face!!!”
Rhys’s former Strictly co-stars joined in the celebration, with dancers Graziano Di Prima and Jowita Przystal both extending their best wishes, writing: “Congratulations!”
Rhys Stephenson, the cherished CBBC presenter, gleefully announced his engagement to Beth last November. The couple’s engagement was revealed with a charming selfie on holiday in the Cayman Islands, where Beth flaunted her new ring, accompanied by Rhys’s caption: “She said yes! #caymanislands #engagement.” (sic)
The star, who had previously kept his romantic life under wraps, let slip about his relationship during his 2021 stint on Strictly Come Dancing. After performing a sultry Argentine Tango with dance partner Nancy Xu, host Claudia Winkleman quizzed him, leading to Rhys’s cheeky revelation: “Beth said, ‘If I’m not jealous, you’re not doing it right!’ So, Beth I hope you’re both proud and jealous!”
In a candid discussion earlier this year, Rhys opened up about the intense stress and anxiety he grappled with while competing on the BBC dance show. Despite being a familiar face on children’s television, Rhys confessed that participating in Strictly was among the most nerve-wracking experiences of his life, often doubting his ability to perform each week.
However, he managed to dance his way to the semi-finals and came in fourth, while Rose Ayling-Ellis and Giovanni Pernice went on to win the competition that year.
