Try out Cairn: Mathair’s Curse
The solo developer Ross McRitchie has officially released the free demo version of Cairn: Mathair’s Curse on Steam. The game has been under development for more than 4 years, and now it is ready to share the experience with all the players. Check out the official trailer video below to get a glimpse of it.
This demo features the game’s first chapter with a demo-exclusive area to give players a taste of the combat later in the game. Additionally, the full version will be coming out sometime in Q3 2024, so stay tuned for more updates.
Cairn: Mathair’s Curse is a Scottish story-driven turn-based JRPG. The story is about a boy and his mother and explores love, grief, and family ties. A mysterious cult has unleashed an ancient curse upon their home, and Alex and his friends must embark on an adventure to stop this. They will battle quirky foes, solve puzzles, and make new friends.
The game is based on Ross’s life experience with his family and loss. It is dedicated to his mother and grandmother. Even the fictional world of Albaness reflects growing up in the Scottish Highlands in the early 2000s. Not to mention, there is plenty of Scottish humor in the characters as well as the story.
