To better accommodate farmers and the overall agriculture sector, Canada’s Farm Show (CFS) is moving its future dates from June to March.
The announcement was made on Day 1 of the annual trade show, which runs from Tuesday to Thursday at REAL District in Regina.
Interim REAL president and CEO Roberta Engel said the decision came after consultation and research from the ag sector. For one, she said, seeding cycles have changed and June has proven to be a tricky time for people to get away from the farm.

“We did a lot of research, we talked to industry leaders, we talked to farmers,” she said. “We need to reinvigorate the show and move it to a time period where we feel we’re going to be able to attract farmers and also bring in under-represented industries.”
Even though March in Saskatchewan can bring perilous weather that discourages highway travel, Engel said she’s not worried about attendance being affected at CFS.
“No snowstorm will stop us,” said Engel, who called herself a “farm girl.”
“I’m not worried about the weather at all.”
What’s more, March is “just before they hit their really busy season for seeding,” so offering new technology, software or techniques at the show could prove valuable, explained Engel.
Another Saskatchewan-based agriculture trade show, Ag In Motion (AIM), started in 2015 and is held in mid-July near Langham (30 kilometres northwest of Saskatoon). Asked if the proximity of another trade show had any role in the change of dates, Engel said “one could perceive it to be that way,” but she felt the sector could support multiple trade shows, which will all be different.

“I think there’s room in our industry for (Saskatoon’s Western Canadian Crop Production Show) in January, our show in March, and then AIM in July,” she said.
The new March dates will carry through from 2025 to at least 2027.
