Data released by the General Insurance Association of Japan showed that claims paid for the 7.5-magnitude earthquake, which struck the Noto Peninsula in Japan’s Ishikawa prefecture on New Year’s Day, have reached nearly 91 billion Japanese yen ($578 million), Asia Insurance Review reported. The numbers represent the total combined figures for member companies of the General Insurance Association of Japan as well as the Foreign Non-Life Insurance Association of Japan.
