The Brazilian National Confederation of Municipalities said the recent floods that severely affected Rio Grande do Sul are expected to cause losses of the over $600 million in the agricultural and livestock sectors of the state, DRGNews reported. The University of Illinois’ Farmdoc Daily also said that floods and landslides in the area destroyed food-storage facilities, damaged soils and disrupted harvests.
