Kannada actor Rachita Ram has broken her silence on the ongoing alleged murder case involving Darshan, her mentor and co-star in several films. In a statement posted on her social media handles in Kannada, Rachita expressed profound shock at the accusations against Darshan, emphasizing that he had played a pivotal role in her entry into the cinema industry.
“I pray for the departed soul, Renukaswamy. I hope his family finds the strength to cope with this loss. I trust that justice will prevail in this murder case,” Rachita wrote, clarifying that her statement was made as a concerned citizen rather than an actor.
Having acted alongside Darshan in films such as Bulbul, Ambareesha, Jaggu Dada, Amar, and Kranti, Rachita conveyed disbelief over the allegations, describing Darshan as a mentor who guided her career. She expressed confidence in the investigative process of the police to uncover the truth and called for unbiased reporting by the media.
The case has sparked reactions from various celebrities within the Kannada film industry. Initially silent after Darshan’s arrest, prominent figures like Divya Spandana, Ram Gopal Varma, Sanjjanaa Galrani, Upendra, and Kichcha Sudeep have begun sharing their perspectives.
Divya Spandana highlighted the importance of involving the police in cases of harassment rather than resorting to vigilantism, while RGV labeled the situation as a bizarre outcome of star worship. Sanjjanaa Galrani cautioned against premature judgments, stating it was too early to declare Darshan guilty. Meanwhile, Upendra called for transparency in the investigation process, advocating for laws mandating public sharing of case developments.
The arrests, including Darshan and actress Pavithra Gowda, were made in connection with the alleged abduction and murder of Renukaswamy on June 11. The incident reportedly stemmed from derogatory messages sent by Renukaswamy to Pavithra Gowda on social media, leading to tragic consequences with Renukaswamy’s body discovered near Sumanahalli.
