The ongoing controversy over the National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test (NEET) 2024 results has intensified with a new confession note from Sikandar Prasad Yadavendu, an engineer at Bihar’s Danapur Town Council. This confession has added fuel to the scandal, revealing the involvement of high-ranking officials and a possible question paper leak racket.
Yadavendu’s note implicates a politician, referred to as ‘Mantri Ji’, who allegedly arranged accommodation for a NEET aspirant, his mother, and other accomplices at a government bungalow in Patna. Yadavendu confessed to facilitating the stay of four NEET candidates and the guardian of one of them in the city. His nephew, Anurag Yadav, a NEET aspirant, arrived in Patna with his mother, Reena Kumari, to take the exam, expressing expectations for favorable results.
The engineer’s letter also exposed his connections with a racket known for leaking question papers for NEET, Bihar Public Service Commission (BPSC), and Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) exams. Yadavendu admitted to organizing logistics for candidates Ayush Raj, Shivanandan Kumar, Abhishek Kumar, Anurag Yadav, and Anurag’s mother, Reena.
A team from India Today visited the guest house where the candidates stayed and confirmed the booking under Anurag Yadav’s name. The guest house, listed as National Highways, Gulzarbagh Division, Patna, housed rough bill books, which is against government financial regulations that caution against maintaining such records.
Upon examining the bill books, India Today found references to ‘Mantri Ji’, who allegedly facilitated the stay near Patna Zoo and Patna airport. The staff at the guest house claimed ignorance about the guests, stating they joined the establishment after the alleged stays.
This development has added a new dimension to the NEET 2024 controversy, highlighting the need for a thorough investigation into the alleged malpractices and the involvement of high-profile individuals.
