The Cotuit Kettleers (3-3) handed the Hyannis Harbor Hawks (4-1-1) its first loss of the season following a 4-2 comeback win in a shortened game at Lowell Park.
Grant Jay (Dallas Baptist) hit a two-run home run in the fourth inning to tie the game at 2-2, while Clemson’s Nathan Hall (three hits) drove in the winning run in the seventh for Cotuit. The Kettleers added an insurance marker on a wild pitch in the eighth. Nolan Nawrocki (Clemson) had two hits. Georgia Tech’s Camron Hill pitched 4.1 innings, gave up four hits, one walk and struck out two. Merritt Beeker picked up his second win of the season after pitching 3.1 innings, and Mike Villani (Long Beach State) secured his first save.
Hyannis threatened in the eighth inning but left the bases loaded. Michael Dattalo (Dallas Baptist) and Eric Snow (South Florida) both had two hits each. Niagara’s Nick Groves had a hit, an RBI and was walked twice. Starting pitcher Joseph Dzierwa (Michigan State) lasted four innings, gave up five hits, including a home run, two runs and struck out four.
Bourne Braves 6, Falmouth Commodores 2
Cincinnati’s Landyn Vidourek hit a two-out grand slam that helped lift the Braves (2-3-1) past the Commodores (1-5), and to their first win since opening day. Marek Houston (Wake Forest) had two hits, two RBIs and scored a run, while Jack Penney (Notre Dame) tallied a run and two hits. Zane Adams (Alabama) gave up four hits, one earned run and struck out five in five innings.
Henry Cooke (Virginia Tech), Jayson Jones (Arkansas), and Tab Tracy (Texas A&M) all had two hits each for the Commodores, while Tracy recorded two RBIs. Brown’s Jack Seppings lasted two innings, gave up two hits, four runs, walked two and struck out three in the loss. Falmouth had five errors and left eight men on base.
Harwich Mariners 2, Orleans Firebirds 1
Princeton’s Matt Scannell’s sacrifice fly helped score two runs in the eighth inning as Harwich (4-2) beat Orleans (1-5) in a pitcher’s duel. Jacob Frost (Kansas State) gave up one hit, two walks and struck out six in four scoreless innings, while Mississippi’s Sam Tookoian picked up the win after allowing one run in three innings. Justin Mitrovich (Elon) earned the save.
J.P. Smith drove in the lone run for the Firebirds in the seventh inning, while four players recorded a hit. George Washington’s Michael Foltz Jr. pitched five scoreless innings and gave up two hits. Brennan Seiber (Vanderbilt) allowed both runs in 1.1 innings.
Brewster Whitecaps 7, Chatham Anglers 4
Nolan Schubart (Oklahoma State) and Daniel Cuvet (Miami) both hit two-run home runs to help the Whitecaps (3-3) defeat the Anglers (3-3). Mississippi’s RJ Johnson Jr. (one RBI) and California Baptist’s Nick Dumesnil (one run) had two hits each. The Whitecaps did a majority of their damage in the first three innings to build a 5-1 lead before, and added two runs in the eighth.
Aiva Arquette (Washington) had a trio of hits and scored two runs for the Anglers, who left 11 men on base. Chatham was 2-for-15 with runners in scoring position. Augusta’s Kyle Lodise hit a solo home run in the fifth that pulled the Anglers within 5-4, but they got no closer. Evan Chrest (Jacksonville) pitched four innings, gave up six hits, two home runs, and five runs.
Wareham Gatemen 5, Y-D Red Sox 3
The Gatemen (4-2) posted three runs in the fifth inning to propel them to a win over the Red Sox (4-2) in a game that was called after six innings due to rain. Miami’s Antonio Jimenez (one home run, two hits, two runs and an RBI) and San Diego’s Colby Turner (one RBI) both had two hits apiece. Rylan Galvan (Texas) drove in two runs on his only hit of the game, while Patrick Galle (Mississippi) picked up the win pitching 1.2 innings.
Arkansas’ Wehiwa Aloy (one hit and one walk) scored two runs and recorded an RBI for the Red Sox, while five different players had at least one hit. Dylan Vigue (Michigan) pitched four innings, gave up eight hits, including a home run, four earned runs and struck out four in the loss.
