The U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission announced Friday that Tres Hijas Berry Farm LLC agreed to pay $200,000 to settle a sexual harassment class–action suit filed on behalf of workers.
The agency said in the lawsuit, filed in federal court in Los Angeles in March 2022, that the harassment was perpetuated by the farm’s supervisor and that no corrective actions were taken when offensive sex-based comments were made within earshot of supervisors and managers.
In addition to offensive remarks, the EEOC said the effected workers at the Camarillo, California-based raspberry harvester and seller were subject to unwelcome physical touching.
Tres Hijas also agreed to appoint an EEOC monitor, properly train workers on discrimination, retaliation and harassment, and institute a complaint procedure.
