Singing sensation Paloma Faith has issued a health update as she was forced to cancel one of her shows ahead of performing at Glastonbury 2024. The pop star said her voice’s range was “compromised” after “suffering from exhaustion and catching various illnesses”.
The 42-year-old released a statement on her Instagram account as she apologised to her fans for having to cancel the Southampton leg of her tour. It read: “I’m incredibly upset and disappointed to announce that I need to cancel my show tonight in Southampton.
“After suffering from exhaustion and catching various illnesses from my kids my voice has been severely affected and my range is compromised. I have sought advice from medical professionals, and they have advised that I need to rest my voice and that means I’ve had to cancel tonight’s show.
“I’m so sorry to everyone who bought tickets, I’ve loved being on the road and seeing all your gorgeous faces, and I’m gutted I won’t be dancing with you tonight.
“There will be other opportunities in the future I’m sure. Ticket holders will be able to claim refunds from point of purchase. Loads of love, Paloma x”.
The Only Love Can Hurt Like This singer is set to perform at Glastonbury on Sunday, marking her first appearance at the festival in eight years. She previously said that she was “excited” about the gig.
Paloma told the press: “I feel so excited. I am almost going to combust. It is one of the absolute best memories of my career, playing at Glastonbury. I’m over-the-moon excited for it.”
It’s not the first time the singer has had to cancel a concert in Cardiff due to her health. Back in April, Paloma told her followers that she was “physically unable to sing” after contracting a virus which led to laryngitis.
At the time, she told fans: “I am devastated to announce I have been advised by medical professionals not to perform my Cardiff show tomorrow but to reschedule. I am doing vocal rest, steaming, gargling and I even had a steroid injection.”
Paloma continued: “At the moment it’s one day at a time so will let you know tomorrow about Brighton but I don’t want to do anything more than I want to do these shows and know that when you do come they will be the best show I can do for you.
“So far this tour has been incredible and I am dying to get on with it.”
