The Council of Insurance Agents & Brokers on Monday named Joel Wood as CEO, succeeding Ken A. Crerar, who has become executive chair.
Mr. Wood, who joined CIAB in 1993, retains the title of president he took on in 2022. Prior to that, he was senior vice president of government affairs.
Mr. Crerar had led CIAB since 1992. He joined the organization in 1987 as chief lobbyist and director of its political action committee.
The changes are part of a long-planned leadership transition, the organization said in a statement.
CIAB said its member companies annually place 90% of all property/casualty insurance premiums and 70% of all employee benefits business in the U.S.
