With another NHL season in the books — the Florida Panthers are the newly crowned Stanley Cup champions — it’s time for the Ottawa Senators to step up and, maybe, finally deliver.

It has to hurt the Senators fan base that Florida, which joined the NHL as an expansion team in 1993, a year after Ottawa, now has a Cup.
But let’s put that behind us. Let’s look ahead.
We have some important business to talk about — what do the Senators need to do in this weekend’s NHL Draft, then what should they be looking to fix in free agency, which begins July 1.
It’s not like a bandaid is going to repair a poorly constructed lineup, you can’t put lipstick on a pig. There are some key decisions to be made.

One big move earlier this week: The Senators shipped out goalie Joonas Korpisalo (picking up 25% of the remaining $16 million over four years of his contract), centre Mark Kastelic and a first-round draft pick (originally belonging to the Bruins) to get goalie Linus Ullmark from Boston.
