There were reports that the ex-goalkeeper had decided to resign, but according to Sky Sport Italia and Tuttosport, this is not yet the case.

In fact, Buffon has demanded a meeting with FIGC chiefs to discuss the long-term plans and his position inside the project.
Luciano Spalletti named Buffon as Italy’s delegation chief in September 2023.
According to the reports, Buffon wants to ensure there are conditions to continue the project after such a disappointing elimination from the European Championship.
As per Tuttosport, Spalletti may also be involved in talks with the 2006 World Cup winner.
Neither FIGC President Gabriele Gravina nor coach Spalletti resigned after Italy’s exit from EURO 2024, but Gravina announced a Federation election for November 4, 2024.
