Gethin Jones took to Instagram with a glum admission as he prepared to star on Morning Live with Wimbledon coverage, leaving Helen Skelton and Sara Davies to present the show.
On his stories, the BBC star could be seen walking under grey skies as he joked: “I’m taking a hit for the team today,” with a behind-the-scenes look at the sporting event for viewers.
He then confessed: “I’m very excited to be here actually,” and teased: “I’m speaking to the head of balls distribution,” before quipping: “I’m supposed to keep a straight face while I do that.”
However, the elation was short-lived after discovering he’d left home without his wallet as Gethin revealed it was in the hands of his co-star.
As the 41-year-old shared: “In other news, Dr Xand left This Morning Live on Tuesday with my wallet.”
In the post captioned: “Anyone fancy lunch … On you?” Gethin continued: “So I’ve had to borrow cash,” adding: “I’m on a budget today.”
Addressing his followers, the TV star shared: “Don’t mean to be cheeky but if you are at Wimbledon today and you fancy taking me for lunch then that’d be great.”
As Gethin reports from the tennis tournament, he will be replaced by Sara Davies on This Morning Live, which he usually hosts with Helen Skelton.
Sara addressed the change on Instagram and said: “I am on Morning Live because our lovely Gethin has decided to have the morning off, he’s decided to have a jolly down in Wimbledon, as you would, strawberries and cream and all.
“He is presenting live into Morning Live from what’s going on in Wimbledon so of course they needed somebody in the studio with the lovely Helen.
“So me and Helen will be on the sofa on Morning Live and Gethin will be live from Wimbledon so should be a lovely morning,” Sara added.
This comes after Jason Manford made his debut on the show and stepped in for Gethin last week which was a pleasant surprise for viewers.
