Maria Farina, president of the Italian Association of Insurance Companies, said insurers in the country paid out a record €6 billion ($6.4 billion) in claims linked to damage caused by natural disasters in 2023, MSN reported citing Emirates News Agency. Ms. Farina said that the figures included some €800 million paid out for 2023’s deadly floods in Emilia-Romagna and Tuscany.
