Re: ‘Terror is not an irrational strategy’: Incoming human rights commissioner lectured about violence, online, July 3
Clearly, the Liberal government’s haphazard attempts to regulate the internet have caused some confusion. First we had Laith Marouf, who managed to bill the federal government for hundreds of thousands of dollars to work as an anti-racism consultant, despite being a raging antisemite. And now we’ve just hired a new human rights commissioner who has a history of anti-Israel activism.
Obviously those who are doing the deep dive into the background checks aren’t yet aware that Meta (Facebook) no longer provides links to news sites. However, a simple Google search would have provided all the info required to quickly reject these less-than-desirable candidates.

CANADA A MESS, TOO
Re: Andy Donato cartoon, June 30, 2024. (It included a message saying, “Be grateful that you don’t live in that mess south of the border.”)
We are also a mess, Mr. Donato. We may not have two old codgers fighting it out for the top job, but our current prime minister has done untold damage to our nation: draconian climate policies that are wrecking the economy; basically killing the oil sands; freezing bank accounts; hammering protesters who are not in line with his ideology; instituting legislation that kills free speech … I can go on and on.
Let’s not celebrate living in Canada until he leaves.

AS LONG AS SHE IS NO. 1
So we now have, for the first time, a woman as the chief of defence. I am not against this appointment — on the condition that she is the best, most qualified of all the candidates.

If you disagree with this sentiment, ask yourself this: If I were going in for an extremely complex, life-threatening brain operation, would I want the surgeon who has impeccable credentials, having performed this surgery dozens of times, or would I be fine with the a surgeon that was only there for reasons of DEI?
