Re: Reader letter: Ice rink ‘another grandiose plan’ to waste Windsor tax dollars (June 14)
Thank you Elaine Weeks for your letter on city hall’s plan to spend $15 million on a downtown ice rink. I could not agree with you more.
Our city roads are terrible. Our downtown has nothing to offer in nice shops to browse or quaint little restaurants to dine. It has closed-up shops and homelessness.

Those who do have businesses downtown deal with high rent and vandalism. I’ve never seen a city’s core that needs a facelift like downtown Windsor.
City council should be focusing on more important things, like how to deal with the homelessness. Elaine you’re right, Mayor Drew Dilkens and his council do have an “agenda” — theirs.
I wrote every member of council regarding the highrise condos being erected in our neighbourhoods all over the city. I received no response. We pay more taxes but do not get a say in what’s happening around our city.
Don’t waste your time sitting at a city council meeting. Your concerns will fall on deaf ears. You’d think being a tax-paying, concerned resident of your community would mean something. Isn’t it important that people stand up and voice their concerns about their neighbourhoods and the city in which they live?
I’ve stood before city council and I have to say that I felt like my voice, my concerns and my efforts were completely ignored.
