Of late, every article I read about what our federal government is doing (or planning to do), my brain keeps screaming for them to get out of my house. From censorship bills forcing all of us to speak only their truths, to a dangerous obsession with a home equity tax, I cannot take it anymore. Please Canada, before this government completely takes over both your houses, the one you live in and the one in Ottawa, next election send this message loud and clear — get out of my house!

Communications failure as well
So the city recently announced that the Bowness feeder main is only running at 50% capacity and at 73% of maximum operating pressure. And while the inspection of the feeder main using the high-tech pipe diver has been completed, it will apparently take three to four weeks for the data to be analyzed to determine if there are any weak spots that need repairing. So does that mean that until the results of that data are known the city will not be bringing the Bowness feeder main up to maximum flow and pressure? And so the outdoor water restrictions will remain in place? If so, why don’t they just say so? They have mishandled and miscommunicated this water crisis from the day the Bowness feeder main failed. A month into this crisis you would think they would have improved their communication skills, something that appears to be as deficient as our water supply infrastructure.

Give us a break
Since we as Calgarians all came together to fight this most recent crisis, that the city should do its part in solidarity with the citizens and reduce property taxes, just for the time period that homeowners and businesses were under a state of local emergency. So about a month. It truly was inspiring to see our mayor’s daily updates either cautioning us that we’re not doing enough, or giving us a pat on the head for doing a good job. I’m sure city council has already proposed compensation for both businesses and homeowners for the water restrictions. If it hasn’t been proposed, no doubt it was an idea just waiting to be conceived by a council whose primary concern is always with the citizens of Calgary.

Wakeup call for Biden
Joe Biden shot himself in the foot when he blamed his poor debate performance on jet lag and needing to go to bed by 8 p.m. Jet lag and being awake at any time are prerequisites for POTUS, placing demands on the position to make the right and well-thought-out decisions under the toughest of circumstances. If this can’t be done for a debate, how can it be done for the decisions required for the next four years?
