Mumbai: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted moderate to heavy rain for Mumbai and its suburbs, with “very heavy rainfall at isolated places.” The maximum and minimum temperatures are expected to be around 28°C and 24°C, respectively.
The IMD has issued a yellow alert for Mumbai, Sindhudurg, and Palghar, indicating the likelihood of heavy to very heavy downpours in isolated areas today. An orange alert has been issued for Thane, Raigad, and Ratnagiri districts in Maharashtra’s Konkan region. Additionally, an orange alert for Mumbai has been issued for tomorrow, suggesting the possibility of heavy showers.
Residents are advised to prepare for a wet spell over the next few days, as a yellow alert is in place from July 13 to July 15. The IMD has also forecasted heavy precipitation in Madhya Maharashtra on July 12, with very heavy rainfall expected in the ghat areas of Madhya Maharashtra until July 15.
In a social media post on X, the IMD warned of a “moderate spell of rainfall likely over Mumbai & adjoining areas during next 3-4 hours.” A press release dated July 11 stated, “Isolated heavy rainfall over Madhya Maharashtra until July 15.”
IndiGo Airlines has alerted passengers to possible flight delays due to heavy rains and air traffic congestion in Mumbai. Their post on X advised travelers to monitor flight statuses through the provided link.
Mumbai weather tracker ‘Mumbai Rains’ also posted on X, predicting heavy to very heavy rains over Mumbai and MMR areas in the next 48 hours, potentially causing waterlogging. The western suburbs, including Dadar, Worli, and Bandra, are expected to receive the most precipitation today, while the interior region of the Mumbai Metropolitan Region (MMR) is likely to witness heavy showers.
Yesterday, from 8:30 am to 3:30 pm, Mumbai recorded 28.8 mm of rainfall in Colaba and 17.5 mm in Santacruz.
