Jaipur: Banswara police arrested two lawyers on Saturday for running a racket involved in fabricating death certificates to claim insurance money.
This arrest came a day after a doctor and a police officer were arrested for fabricating the death certificate of a cancer patient and claiming Rs 50 lakh in insurance money.
Police said that the racket had created false death certificates in collusion with family members of the deceased, doctors, and policemen to defraud insurance companies.DSP, Banswara city, Suryaveer Singh, said Hitesh Patel and Mahendra Patel, both advocates, collaborated with Yogendra Patel, the son of the deceased, Devang Patel, to file a false claim regarding his death. Despite their knowledge of Devang Patel’s cancer diagnosis, they assisted his son in obtaining a Rs 50 lakh insurance policy on May 16, 2015, he said.
