Electronic music festival Sunburn will host its 18th edition on the shores of South Goa between Dec. 28 and 30, 2024.
While the lineup and final venue details will be announced later, registrations to buy tickets are now open on BookMyShow. Fans can sign up now to be the first to receive ticket notifications and gain access to early ticket sales. The pre-sale for registered users goes live on July 21, with the public ticket sale beginning on July 24.
This edition also promises to do right by its “long-standing home in Goa.” Sunburn and other music festivals setting up in Goa have not always been received well as they’ve grown year on year, but this time, Sunburn organizers promise to “instill environmental responsibility among the youth” by running an eco-friendly campaign ‘Leave No Trace.’ A press release states, “By adhering to the principles of ‘Recycle, Reuse and Restore’, the campaign will encourage fans to celebrate the spirit of music in an eco-friendly manner. This initiative underscores Sunburn’s commitment to environmental sustainability and aims to ensure that the festival grounds are left as pristine as they were found.”
To that end, Sunburn will set up more recycling stations for plastic, glass and other materials throughout their venue in South Goa. “Thorough daily clean-ups will be conducted from Dec. 27 to 31, 2024, to restore the space to its original state,” the press release adds.
Sunburn CEO Karan Singh added in his statement, “We are excited to embark on the next chapter of the most loved festival at a new venue that promises an unparalleled experience […] We look forward to welcoming fans from all over the world to live, love and dance again in the stunning paradise of the grand scenic landscape of Goa. We are committed to creating the largest, most immersive and mesmerizing Sunburn festival experience yet. This year, our theme will bring to life unimaginable production and aesthetics that will transform the festival into a surreal sea of sounds where the boundaries of reality are blurred by the extravagance of music and the wonder of the waters.”
The festival also has the support of the Travel & Tourism Association of Goa. The association’s president Jack Sukhija added in his statement, “Sunburn has significantly boosted tourism in Goa, boosting local economy, tourism and driving business growth across various sectors, benefiting from the festival’s global draw. All over the world, events supplement the tourism economy. As a world-class musical event, we expect Sunburn to do the same in South Goa. This year, Sunburn Goa will undoubtedly place South Goa on the world music map, stimulating business in sectors such as hotels, F&B, transport, and more. We expect the festival to be a great event while adhering to all statutory protocols and waste management guidelines.”
Prior to the festival in December, there are already a few Sunburn Arena tours announced, including Norwegian DJ-producer Alan Walker’s biggest India tour yet, which kicks off in September and German electronic artist Boris Brejcha slated for two shows in early December. The main Sunburn festival in South Goa, however, promises over 150 international and Indian artists across even stages. Other highlights include pop-up fashion stores, curated food village and more.
