Sheetz will soon have its second Wilmington-area store open in the Wilmington area.
The restaurant and convenience chain announced Wednesday that its first location in Wilmington will open Tuesday at 2517 Shipyard Blvd, according to a news release. Earlier in July, Sheetz opened a location in Hampstead.
In recognition of this first-ever opening, Sheetz will host a grand opening celebration for local residents. The grand opening festivities will begin outside the store at 9 a.m. with multiple prizes awarded, including a grand prize giveaway of free Sheetz for a Year. The store’s official ribbon-cutting ceremony is set for 10:45 a.m. This new location, which opens to the public at 8 a.m., will also welcome customers by offering free self-serve coffee and soda for the entire grand opening day.
In honor of this grand opening, Sheetz will donate $2,500 to the Plastic Ocean Project, a Wilmington-based nonprofit whose mission is to attain science-based solutions to the plastic pollution crisis in order to improve human and environmental health.
Sheetz is also donating $2,500 again to the Food Bank of Central and Eastern North Carolina and Special Olympics of North Carolina. Sheetz donated the same amount to both organizations during its opening in Hampstead earlier this month. Customers attending the grand opening are encouraged to donate a non-perishable food item to the food bank. Those who donate will receive a Sheetz branded item, limit one per customer while supplies last from 9-11 a.m.
